Achievements for tilt to live 212/19/2023 ![]() Much like the iPhone version, it's hard to say anything bad about Tilt to Live HD this is still one of the better arena shooter-style games on the App Store (minus any actual shooting), and it has lost nothing in the iPad transition. As well, the iPad version still uses Agon Online for high scores there's nothing necessarily wrong with the implementation, it just would be great to see a more popular service like OpenFeint used, so my achievement points could go towards a greater total. Because of the larger size of the iPad compared to the iPhone, it just does not feel as comfortable or natural as playing the iPhone version does just based on the hardware in play here. The biggest problem with Tilt to Live HD is less a problem with the game as much as it is a problem with tilt-based games on the iPad. As well, the game uses a trial model similar to Xbox Live Arcade - you get the original game mode and initial 3 weapons for free, but have to pay a $3.99 in-app purchase to unlock the Code Red, Gauntlet, and Frostbite modes along with the rest of the weapons. ![]() The tweaks One Man Left have made to the iPad version really do make the game feel more like an iPad game in every aspect from gameplay to controls. It's still incredibly addictive and fun, with fantastic tilt controls and a great sense of humor. Instead of navigating through enemies in maze-like formations, you are now avoiding enemies and flying weaponry andcollecting orbs to score points, all of which feels truer to the Tilt to Live ideal than the original Gauntlet mode did.Īnd really, everything that is great about Tilt to Live HD is the same as what was great about the iPhone version. ![]() The other big change is that Gauntlet mode has been redone entirely. ![]() The first big change is that the playing field is huge, filling up the iPad screen, with all other objects only 1.3x bigger than their iPhone counterparts, meaning the game feels a lot more open. However, they decided to do a bit more than that in making Tilt to Live HD feel more like a game naturally made for the iPad and not just an iPhone port. Tilt to Live was much beloved in its iPhone incarnation, and it would have been easy for developer One Man Left to simply update the graphics, tweak the controls a bit, and call it a day for Tilt to Live HD. Grab it post-haste.Price: Free ($3.99 In-App Purchase to Unlock Content) With its sharp sense of style, excellent soundtrack, and the equally addictive gameplay, this sequel carries on that legacy. The original Tilt to Live was a class act, delivering an extremely well polished arcade experience that was eternally replayable. There are also some weird of framerate issues in the menu, though these don't extend into the game itself. If you are hit, you don't have the chance to revive yourself with the target minigame, making some of the duels extremely challenging. The problem is that you are thrown into these fights with little time to react to the boss' first attack. These have set movement and attack patterns, and often large targets which you need to fly though to beat them. The unlockable weapons are fun and creative, and it's well worth complete the acheivements necessary to get them.Īnother new edition is the bosses. Each weapon has a distinctive attack, and using them in tandem to cause grand scale destruction is a delight. Use the duel lightsabers to trigger other orbs, and that multiplier will begin to soar. Ploughing through three or four nukes in a row will double or triple your score. The aim is to survive as long as you can, complete some achievements, and unlock a bunch of new weapons.įor this sequel, power-up collection is tied to the score multiplier. As before, you must tilt your iDevice to move a tiny arrow around the screen, avoiding the deadly red dots and collecting flying orbs to unleash destructive hell upon your foes. Those who have played the original should feel right at home with Tilt to Live 2. So, given the twitch-based insanity of the original, could this sequel be that much crazier? The answer is a resounding 'yes'. This is quite a boast, especially considering the first Tilt to Live became pretty crazy over the years thanks to a series of bar-raising updates. Tilt to Live 2 is subtitled 'Redonkulous'.
